About me

Since 1993 I've been working with Applewood Books and with the Mayor of Foodsville. When I'm not in the office or on the road for work, particularly on the weekends, I'm fond of cooking up a storm. My kitchen forays usually produce mass quantities of main courses that can be frozen for easy access and that home-cooked flavor thoughout a busy week. Specialities include a hearty vegetarian spaghetti sauce, with meatballs and sausage on the side, chili, coq au vin and baked barbecued spare ribs. I consider myself a cook, not a baker, yet enjoy sweets created by others. Favorite foods include lobster, shrimp, filet mignon or a good thick steak, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, creamy dark chocolate and some great wines or champagnes to complement them. I'm looking forward to my future experiences in Foodsville and to making many new friends on the site. Let me know if you have any of the same interests, which I'll list as tags.

When a recipe calls for removing a soup from the pot and blending it in small batches, then returning it to the pot, use a hand blender. (I use a Braun). Place the blender directly into the pot and slowly move it through the pot, keeping the blender close to the bottom of the pot. You can quickly blend or puree soups and save lots of effort and clean-up time. This is great for split pea, butternut squash or cream of vegetable soups, such as cauliflower, asparagus or broccoli.
