Eating good food makes me happy so I've been cooking wholesome, uncomplicatd meals for about 70 years. I still like to try new things, following a recipe the first time and then adding personal touches to make the dish my own. Now I'm on a low sodium diet. I find that using less salt brings out the natural flavor of many foods and I've come to enjoy it. I do miss some things like pickles, olives and sauerkraut which I dole out to myself one bite at a sitting on rare occasions.Hot and spicy seasonings help keep my meals tasty.

My mother and grandmother were both excellent cooks and bakers but since my mother couldn't stand the smell or taste of onions and garlic and I love them both I've added generous amounts where I thought they belong. I have passed along some of my mother's recipes to my children and hope that soon I'll share some with you, too.
