	robmhill: It seems to depend on how long the oil is heated. The oil does not degrade in the same way as protein but it does polymerize. The longer it is heated the greater the amount of polymerization. This does not seem to be a big problem. It takes a lot of heating to produce meaningful polymerization, 10+ hours. This is how them produce stand oil, for artist paints. It does seem to have some effects on health but not major. It reduces the amount of bile released and slows down absorption. It is a little harder on the liver. There is more information on this in terms of animal feed then for humans. Unfortunately heating does not seem to degrade the estrogen compounds, phyto-esterols. 	tjsandonandon: Is there a dietician in the house? Does anybody know if roasting the flax seeds changes the beneficial oil benefits? I know that Dr. Oz from Oprah reccomends that you eat all nuts in their raw state to reap the benefits of the Monounsaturated oil. I am curious to know if flax should be treated the same? I'm not exactly sure what it is that heat does to the fat that would make eating them one way batter than the other. I just know that most nuts have an enhanced flavor to them when toasted. 	robmhill: At the Met they have linen sheets from Egypt that could be used despite being over 2,000 years old. Apparently they used young plants without letting the flowers pollinate. This was costly as you did not get the seeds and you got less fibre but it was stronger and finer. This is supposedly why the sheets are in such good shape, juvenile linen is the strongest plant fibre. Unfortunately it is no longer grown like this as you make less money. comment left Oct 08, 2008
	robmhill: Thought about it but cyanide is not great for metabolism, and the oestrogen compounds are not good for men. They are also dangerous for many women. I take fish oil for omega 3, but soon there will be algae derived which is better. The fish get their omega 3 from the algae in the first place. As heavy metals are not oil soluble fish oil does not have any meaningful amounts. comment left Oct 08, 2008
	hiddenboston: I eat a lot of the Nature's Path Flax Plus cereal. I usually have it 4 or 5 days a week, actually. It isn't the most exciting food in the world, but it isn't bad, and it's a great way to get Omega-3 into my system. comment left Oct 08, 2008
