The second San Francisco Bay Area Michelin Guide came out last week and six new restaurants earned stars:

 

  • Ame in SF
  • Coi in SF
  • Cortez in SF
  • One Market in SF
  • Redd in Yountville;

  • Martini House in St. Helena

This is a family favorite hors d'ouvres recipe.  These go so quickly that family members tend to linger around the platter as not to miss out.

As I was thinking about some of Giada De Laurentiis books and Italian recpies, I was struck by how time and again she stresses cooking with the freshest ingredients and how simplicity can so often be the key to some of the most enjoyable dishes. 

 

So I started to ponder which Bay Area restaurants served some of the freshest and simplest Italian food.  And with that I present you my top three choices:
