SeamusMuldoon: In my ancestry it is called colcannon/kalecannon. Spuds, cabbage, green onions, dill, garlic, chopped corned beef, seasonings. Search colcannon for its history and variations. You are talking about my genetic makeup when you address this dish. As for meself, when I address a dish it usually ends up over drinks and dinner and moves on (or not) from there. Irish expats eat this a lot unless they have become successful in which instance they only eat it only on St Pat's Day. Lace curtain Irish would never allow the aroma of cabbage on the stove to be experienced in their homes. That is reserved for shanty Irish people like me. Allowed through your back door, I could really make you smile with this dish. I don't expect to be allowed through the front door. As the mother of a girl I was dieing to date in high school in Charleston once said in refusing me permission to ask her daughter for a date, "Someone might see her with you". comment left Oct 15, 2009 |
